PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT
Role Summary
The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for overseeing purchases and developing new contracts. He/she will play a key role in procuring high-quality and cost-efficient supplies and materials for the construction of HOPE houses. He/she will follow procurement procedures and maintain an updated list of current and incoming inventory.
Key Accountabilities
- Create and maintain good relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options
- Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply contracts, ensuring that the products and supplies are of high quality
- Maintain and update a list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development
- Generate purchase requisitions/orders for goods and services
- Assist in receiving, storing, controlling, and issuing stock from warehouses
- Preparation of bi-monthly inventory and purchase order reconciliation reports
- Ensuring compliance with all procedures for all incoming and outgoing items, maintaining a thorough knowledge of the inventory database
- Travel to job locations and warehouses as required
- Assist in coordinating the required documentation between the site and the office as required
Knowledge and Skills
- Computer literate with the ability to operate in SAGE
- Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policies, and systems
- Ability to analyse problems and strategise for better solutions
- Ability to negotiate, establish and administer contracts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently
- A valid driver’s license is required
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience as a procurement assistant would be an asset
